Most people in the marine industry will agree that Seawork is certainly worth attending for three days of insight and inspiration unlike anywhere else. With so many great things going on it feels impossible to choose, but here are five of our 2017 event highlights…
Seawork
This year Seawork is in its 20th year and brings together over 7,500 professionals from over 70 countries and 600 exhibitors. It’s a true one-stop-shop to meet people, take in the latest industry thinking and re-connect with peers.
Breaking News! We understand that the Carbon Trust has just confirmed it will be at Seawork this year holding a workshop on its proposed standard for assessing wind farm vessel performance. We’re looking forward to hearing about proposed safe motion criteria and the latest from the P-Plot project. Keep checking the Seawork site for more news on this as it’s announced.
Don’t miss our MD Chris Huxley-Reynard (Reygar) presenting on Tuesday (Lower deck, 3.00 p.m.) about how our new control & monitoring system BareFLEET came to fruition from initial idea to product launch at this year’s Seawork. A collaborative R&D project with Innovate UK, similar stage businesses looking for funding might also find the preceding talk at 1.15 p.m. by Annie Hunter of How2 useful.
For something a little different, head to the dive tank. Located by the entrance to the Seawork pontoons, get up close & personal with the latest underwater equipment at the eye-level tank. Sponsored by Searchwise, demonstrations take place on all three days.
The popular conference programme on board the Ocean Scene is also worth checking out. Our first highlight is Tuesday’s talk (Upper deck, 11.30 a.m.) by Johan Ullman M.D. Assoc. RINA, HSBO Pro on the EU-Directive on Whole Body Vibration. We’ll also be heading to Kate Harvey’s update on Good Practice Guidelines on Thursday (Upper deck, 1.00 p.m.). Kate is General Manager at G Plus Offshore Wind. Her seminar includes discussion around the safe management of small vessels, an area of particular focus for our new BareFLEET product.
