Role Description

Are you an Systems Engineer with a passion for designing and supporting cutting-edge technology? AST Reygar is seeking a skilled electrical engineer to join our innovative team. Specialising in IoT and big data analytics, we provide remote monitoring systems for commercial boats, particularly in the offshore wind and ports/harbours sectors. Our products are designed, built, and developed in-house, offering a unique opportunity to work on both hardware and software solutions.

In this role, you will collaborate with the head of engineering to design, test, and support boat monitoring electrical systems. You’ll engage directly with customers, support the installation and commissioning of systems, and troubleshoot technical issues, ensuring the continuous operation of our advanced monitoring solutions.

Responsibilities and Deliverables:

  • Engage with customers to understand boat monitoring requirements and electrical interfaces.
  • Design electrical systems, from simple DIN-rail equipment retrofits to complex cabinet-mounted setups for new vessels.
  • Create electrical drawings and provide installation instructions for technicians.
  • Remotely support technicians during installation and commissioning processes.
  • Provide ongoing support to customers, troubleshooting software and hardware issues.

This is a dynamic role that requires strong self-motivation and a proactive attitude. You’ll need to adapt to varying demands throughout busy periods and show enthusiasm for continuous improvement in technical solutions.

Essential Experience / Qualifications / Educational attainments

Essential

  • AutoCAD (2D) proficiency.
  • Electrical system design (Industrial or marine).
  • Electrical fault-finding skills.
  • Strong IT skills,
  • Knowledge of industrial networks and protocols – It is significant that this is separate from IT skills as it is a different discipline

       Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in PLC programming.
  • Experience with Jira Software.
  • Python and GitHub experience.
